On 28 July 2018, the Economist published an article with its vision explaining why there is a huge process of dealership concentration (1,000 in the USA since 2014). The article explains that there are several reasons, which can be summarised as follows: the change in consumer behaviour, the growing professionalization of dealers and the increasing access to different financing sources. It also explains that manufacturers also see benefits in this concentration, although they contemplate 10% of the national market as a maximum share for a single dealer.
